Eyewitness helps mom burned in fiery 3-car crash after police chase

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Eyewitnesses are describing the instant a police chase finished in a fiery a few-vehicle crash, in which a mother and her toddler have been ejected from a single of the cars Friday morning in north St. Louis County.

Police reported the incident began when officers noticed a stolen pink Dodge Charger traveling northbound on Riverview at Interstate 270 at about 8:45 a.m. Friday.

Officers began chasing the car or truck and deployed end strips to sluggish the automobile. They did not puncture the tires, and the motor vehicle kept dashing away.

The Dodge Charger inevitably strike a black Hyundai sedan close to the intersection of West Florissant at Dargail Court in the Dellwood area. A woman and her 2-12 months-outdated son were being ejected from the Hyundai.

Grant Ware, who life close by, said he witnessed the aftermath.

“I was really cooking breakfast, and I read a loud boom,” explained Ware. “I noticed a vehicle on fire…and I saw what I assumed was a little overall body on the ideal-hand side of the street. And there was a woman where policemen and someone else was striving to put this fireplace out.”

Carlos Johnson, a different eyewitness, reported he applied his shirt to help law enforcement put out the flames engulfing the woman’s entire body.

“I observed her get out of the car, and I observed the fireplace was nevertheless on her,” stated Johnson. “And I ran more than there to assist. She was asking for her little one. That is all she was nervous about at the time was her youngster.”

Law enforcement reported the driver of the stolen Dodge Charger also strike a white Oldsmobile just before coming to a cease. The driver of the Oldsmobile was taken to the hospital with minimal accidents.

The mom and her son were rushed to a clinic to be dealt with for their severe accidents.

“We are praying for the mother and the newborn. We are hoping they arrive by way of. I am from this place and we see too a lot of of these cars driving recklessly. In this case, we had some really serious offenders,” explained St. Louis County Prosecuting Legal professional Wesley Bell. “Those people today associated in this carjacking will be held responsible.”

The driver of the Dodge Charger was arrested at the scene. Police reported the vehicle was stolen through a carjacking Thursday evening. A gun was discovered in the automobile.
