Two blog posts in a row about our Library becoming a Secure Room for our LGBTQIA+ kiddos. Why? Mainly because we are aggressively passionate about remaining allies to our young children. Also, the information is chock entire of alarming examples where by mothers and fathers, school districts, and communities are NOT supporting the flexibility to examine. The democratic freedom to give ALL children the alternative to come across publications devoid of censorship or obstacles.

It boils my blood! Why does it appear like we are heading backwards with FREADom to read through?

So, I desired to give you (expensive reader!) an instance of our Satisfaction Month e-book display, our record of Fiction textbooks, and how we market it to our kiddos. Most of this write-up is copied from our Daring Faculty Library Website, Instagram posts, &

A single of my most respected Library friends, Laura C. Davies (Adore her!) who I fulfilled when I was keynoting the ASTE Tech Meeting in Anchorage Alaska experienced this to say on my Instagram post:

“Sure! I have my individual classroom library, complete of varied guides,
and for the to start with time in my career I essentially wondered if someone
would complain about my selection. I am heading to preserve on bringing new
publications into my classroom for the reason that pupils who require textbooks that persuade
inclusion know where they can locate them.”

Indeed, unfortunately, there are some university districts and states that want to notify dad and mom of the books they verify out!” HORROR!

Why does it look like we’re likely backwards and not forwards? i’d like to hear what you assume of the remarks. It scares me!
